We hope you enjoy your visit to our historic towns at the confluence of the Mighty Potomac and Lazy Shenandoah rivers. Hike the Appalachian Trail or bike the C&O Canal, float down the rivers, visit Harpers Ferry National Historic Park, and explore our unique and friendly shops. Outfitters offer guided trips or rentals for those interested in fishing, horse or bike trails, zip lines, and river trips. Rangers and private guides provide opportunities to explore our history, or even hear about our resident ghosts! Dining and refreshments are available throughout Lower Town and along Washington Street in Bolivar. Accommodations for those staying overnight include an historic inn, a hostel, bed and breakfasts sprinkled throughout Upper Town Harpers Ferry and Bolivar, and motels and a campground on or just off nearby US 340.
More information for visitors is available at the Jefferson County Visitors Bureau in Bolivar, at the Appalachian Trail Visitors Center in Upper Town, and from National Park information centers on US 340 and in Lower Town. Public transportation options include Amtrak, the MARC commuter train, and the local PANTRAN bus service.
